How Long Is A Session?

- Session lengths vary depending on location booked. This is a slow process of photography so a minimum of 20 minutes per photo is necessary to ensure the best final product. I like to make the experience as interactive as possible, demonstrating how each plate is crafted.

*session lengths will be clearly noted at time of booking.

Where Is Your Studio Located?

- My home studio is located on the West Side of Cincinnati in the neighborhood of Mack South. The address will be sent to you via email upon booking your session.

What is the maximum group size for a session?

- I can photograph up to 2 individuals at a time for a 4x5 plate & up to 3 individuals at a time for an 8x10. While we're open to trying to accommodate more subjects, please note that achieving clear focus on everyone becomes more challenging due to the shallow depth of field. If perfect focus for all subjects is not a concern, we're more than willing to experiment with larger groups.

Do I Get A Digital Copy?

- YES! You get every plate we shoot during your session as a high-resolution digital scan to share wherever you like!

What are the session fees?

- A non-refundable deposit of $40 is required for all bookings, which will be applied toward the final cost of your tintype. Pricing is as follows:

  • 4x5 plate: $85

  • 5x7 plate: $115

  • 8x10 plate: $150

  • 5x7 Pet session: $125

  • Location & Home session $350

  • *For locations beyond 25 miles from my home studio, a travel fee applies. 25+ miles: $25; 30+ miles: $45; 50+ miles: $75.

When will I receive my tintype?

- Your tintype will undergo a process of washing, drying, and varnishing that takes about 2 days. You're welcome to pick up your finished piece at the studio or have it shipped to you for an additional $5 fee.

What Should I wear?

- For the best results in tintype photographs, select clothing with distinct patterns and textures. If possible avoid clothing with text or logos, as they will appear reversed due to the photographic process. You’re encouraged to personalize your session with any unique accessories, costumes, or props you’d like featured in your photograph. At the end of the day, wear whatever you’d like, it’s your photo!

Do you offer reshoots?

- If an error on my part occurs, I will gladly offer a reshoot at no extra charge. If you desire a reshoot for personal reasons, there will be a $35 material fee. Keep in mind, the unique characteristics of the tintype process can introduce imperfections, which are considered part of its charm. However, if these imperfections significantly obstruct facial features, I will offer a reshoot at no cost.

What is your policy on rescheduling, refunds, and cancellations?

- The initial deposit is non-refundable. We understand that plans can change, so if you need to reschedule, please let us know within 12 hours of your scheduled appointment.

Can pets participate in the session?

- Yes, pets are welcome at my studio! Pet sessions are 45 minutes long to account for acclimation and potential movement, which might necessitate a reshoot. Pets should be able to stay still for around 10 seconds. Bringing along favorite treats or toys can help keep them calm and stationary. To book a session for your pet, please click HERE

- Absolutely! My equipment is completely portable, so I can provide services to parties, business events, weddings, and other locations. If you want more details or want to talk about your particular requirements, please get in touch.
